A thrust, can be permanent (easier to construct) or movable (more flexible uses for the stage). Some kind of elevation at the back, even if it's just a plain walkway with stairs. We can do a lot with just verbal suggestion, but being able to designate different zones would take care of half of the debates we have about blocking. [...] What are you thinking?
Of course you want a thrust. We can do all this. It'll help the space feel intimate on slow trade nights without making the stage itself feel small.
A fly system, so you can swap out the sets and backdrops quickly. It'd be nice to have a rotating repertoire of four or five full productions to incentivize people to spend more time here. Soundproofing, so it's not an earsore on the Depot. It'll help with the acoustics, too. [...] And I want it to have an art deco ceiling. Like an old Hollywood movie palace.
People never take me seriously when I give out compliments. But they like hearing it.
Sounds perfect. And ambitious. Lundegaard might be able to help us build, but I'm not sure they have an eye for artistic details. Are you thinking we'll do the ceiling from scratch, or might there a theater in the area we could source inspiration from?

Weβre in rural Washington. Thereβs nothing like that here.

Not even one starry-eyed farmer who dreams in black and white? Alright, I suppose you'll be a trailblazer in more ways than one.
